How to Give
Give in Honor or in Memory
You may make a gift in Honor or in Memory of someone you care about. This may be done online through Network for Good, or by printing out our donation form and filling in the information. You may specify someone to be notified of your thoughtfulness.
Give a Gift of Securities
Consider donating appreciated securities held more than one year. By doing so, your gift costs you less. In addition to any qualifying tax deduction, you may also be able to avoid the capital gains tax due if you were to sell the security rather than donating it. For stock transfer instructions, please call our office.
Maximize Your Gift
Increase your gift at no extra cost to you, by taking advantage of your employer’s matching gift program. Obtain a matching gift form from your human resource department, fill out the employee portion and send the form with your gift.
For those who are over age 70 1/2, Congress has recently extended the IRA rollover provision. This allows anyone age 70 1/2 or older to make a direct transfer from his/her IRA account to a non-profit organization such as the Center for Respite Care. This transfer can be up to $100,000 in 2008 and up to $100,000 again in 2009. Please consult your accountant or attorney for information regarding the potential income and estate tax benefits of making a gift in this manner.
